The Mercantile Rugby Football Association (MRFA ) consists of a team of dedicated volunteers  with a passion to developing and promoting rugby in the corporate sector. The objective of the association has been to identify and nurture young rugby talent in order that they obtain gainful employment in the corporate sector. The mercantile rugby tournament has been catalyst in this aspect  and players who have been successful in displaying their talents and skills during the past tournament have secured employment in leading corporates in the country .it is also gratifying to note that most players who have represented the country have been identified and nurtured while participating in MRFA tournaments.

The Mercantile Rugby Sevens is the much awaited annual event in the Rugby calendar which had continuously been conducted for the past 51 years . the tournament is conducted spanning  two and a half days with an average of around 36 teams participating from the corporate  sector during the past years . in order to ensure that competitive rugby is played throughout the tournament ,and encouraging the participation of new companies the tournament is conducted in four segments ( Cup, Plate, Bowl and Shield segments) for men and a tag rugby tournament was held for ladies

The Sevens tournament is conducted in a fulfilled atmosphere and played under flood lights with entertainment and food stalls to keep the spectators and supporters entertained.
